"It is unclear exactly when these new 7nm FPGAs will be launched – Intel’s own slide decks show a roadmap where the current 10nm Agilex FPGAs are the main products for 2021/2022, so we are perhaps looking at 2023 or later for these designs."

    current?

The slides show us 2021/2022, so it is not now (2020) current. final shipping production and pricing FPGA's. So 10mn FPGA's for purchase next year at the earliest.

Next you all will be telling us that a so-called back of a dinner napkin sketch is current, which it would be, but how does one go about plugging that napkin into final sellable silicon?

Essentially correct; Agilex 10 has supposedly been sampling for about a year, but AFAIK is not generally available yet.

Technically I was hands-on with Agilex parts in September 2019 - the first member of the F-series was already being sampled to Intel's key revenue-generating customers. We still have I-series and M-series to become visible yet.

Is "sampling" the same as "current product"?

This Microsoft guy seems to think they are real.

"“Microsoft has been working closely with Intel on the development of their Intel Agilex FPGAs and we are planning to use them in a number of upcoming projects,” said Doug Burger, technical fellow, Azure Hardware Systems at Microsoft"

That is the same thing as Facebook saying they have pre launch IceLake-SP Xeon Samples and are working beautifully.

Except no one else could get it and they are not shipping in significant volume. ( i.e Yield not good )

I guess technically it *is* a "current generation" product, even if Intel can't actually make or sell it 😏

    Soo, sell XLNX, oor

One would certainly hope that was the plan, yes. Much very informative of you intel.

Ian: Next time you have Intel's ear, can you verify what orientation the 'lower' die in a Foveros stack is? Metal-up or metal-down (flip-chip or... non-flipped-chip?)?

let the intellect be diminished from all that it can ever take. many intel rivals now and intel is not that much money. It is best to put them on the market now and look for another 50/50 market share.
